The Essentials of Wellness Medicine A Picture Tour of Our Facility
The Services we offer include:
Preventative and wellness medicine A complete physical examination is an essential part of your pet’s annual visit, and provides our first and most important sign of early disease states. Vaccination schedules are tailored to your individual pet’s lifestyle, making certain he or she does is not exposed to unnecessary risk. Fecal examinations, heartworm testing, and blood screening are important components of the annual visit. Heartworm, flea and intestinal parasite control are ensured with year-round monthly preventatives such as Frontline and Interceptor.
Internal medicine Our veterinarians diagnose and treat conditions encompassing all body systems, including cardiology, renal disease, hepatic disease, endocrinology, cancer, respiratory disease, infectious disease, immunology, and musculoskeletal disease.
Radiology Our x-ray unit produces
excellent quality radiographs. Radiographs are essential for diagnosing various
medical and surgical conditions, and are taken
routinely in our hospital. We are also able to perform various types of contrast studies to identify such problems as gastrointestinal obstruction, bladder stones, and anatomical defects. Our ultrasound machine enables us to further clarify details of the chest and abdominal cavity.
Laboratory Diagnostics Our in-house complete blood count machine, chemistry and electrolyte analyzer enable us to diagnose and treat critical and emergent cases quickly and effectively. Our reference laboratories give us the added attribute of being able to test for the full scope of common and rare conditions, perform biopsies,
Surgery Our surgery suite enables us to perform a wide variety of operations, and our monitoring equipment and surgical techniques offer the least amount of risk to your pet. Each animal going into surgery receives an intravenous catheter and fluids (to support the cardiovascular system), monitoring of vital systems via pulse oximetry, ECG, blood pressure, and capnography (which measures oxygen and carbon dioxide levels), and the same anesthetic medications used in human hospitals. Pre-emptive and post-operative pain control is a vital part of our regimen, extending from the period before surgery until your pet is back at home with you and comfortable.
Dentistry Our veterinarians and technicians are highly trained in the area of veterinary dentistry, a discipline which has come to the forefront of veterinary medicine in recent years. Oral hygiene is essential to preventing infectious organisms from invading critical body systems, and starts with dental care you can perform at home. Even with home dental care, pets will still need occasional full-scale dental cleanings, just as you do. Our human-grade dental unit with ultrasonic scaler, high-speed drill, and polisher enable us to perform dental prophylaxis and sometimes necessary extractions more quickly and efficiently, decreasing the amount of time your pet spends under anesthesia. Our dental radiology unit allows us to identify periodontal disease underneath the gumline that would otherwise be missed and untreated.
Critical Care Our ICU enables us to provide 24-hour fluid therapy (a must in critical patients), hourly treatments and observations.
Nutrition consultation Many disease states are improved by dietary modification. We offer an extensive range of prescription veterinary diets by many different pet food manufacturers, allowing us to find the diet that is best suited and agreeable to your pet.
Our veterinarians
work closely with veterinary specialists in the area. A visiting board-certified radiologist and
surgeon allow us to offer ultrasonography, echocardiography, orthopedic
surgery, and other specialized surgeries without your pet having to travel to
an unfamiliar hospital.
