Tanya Battiston, DVM

Chief of Staff

 

Dr. Tanya Battiston graduated Cum Laude from the University of  Rhode Island in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal  Science and Technology. She was the philanthropic chairperson in her sorority and a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, The National Honor Society, and Order of Omega. She received the Award for Academic Excellence in Animal Science upon graduation from the college of Resource development.  

Dr. Battiston graduated with her doctorate from Kansas State  University, College of Veterinary Medicine, in 1998. She was awarded Dean’s honors and elected to the Honor Society of Phi  Zeta.  

Since moving to Farmington in 2002, she has practiced small mammal medicine and surgery as the Chief of Staff Veterinarian at Star Meadow Animal Clinic. Dr. Battiston is also a Certified  Animal Reiki practitioner. She offers Animal Reiki and Crystal  Animal Reiki services (energy healing) as a complement to Star Meadow’s comprehensive medical care.  

Her particular areas of interest include ophthalmology, multi-modal prevention and management of osteoarthritis, endocrine disease,  laser therapy, soft tissue surgery including entropion, cherry eye, and episioplasty surgeries. She adores rabbits (she has eight of her own) and works with Every Bunny Counts Rabbit rescue and pet rabbits for medical, dental, and surgical care.  

Dr. Battiston was the veterinary correspondent for Fox 61  Connecticut from 2008-2015 in her morning segment, "Ask the  Vet.". She routinely works with local schools during career days,  outreach programs, and provides shadowing opportunities for aspiring youth. She is also recognized as a member of the National Register's Who's Who in Executives and Professionals, and the Manchester Who's Who.  

Dr. Battiston currently lives in Farmington with her husband, two sons, three dogs, two cats, and eight rabbits.
